Overheating

So I think I may have a slight travel problem ahead folks... my Egyptian taxi driver tells me that even the Egyptian people leave Egypt during August cos it is too hot. I won't have a good time he cries... you will be too hot and will have to wear long sleeves and skirts to not offend (and I quote) those damn muslims who never got around to travelling, and don't realise how the rest of the world works. At least, being a woman travelling alone, I won't be going to Luxor and Aswan he said (oh dear.. yes I am) because apparently it gets even hotter there. Mid forties is what I can expect. In theory that doesn't sound too bad until I remember how useless I was in Sydney over New Years when it hit 44. Hmmm - so anyway - hints for keeping cool in tropical climes greatly appreciated.

Drink the Drink-Trolley um Full Actually...

Well the "drink the drink-trolley dry" party was an abject failure! The point behind the party was to get rid of the dregs on our drinks trolley and we actually finished the party with more booze than we started with. Of course it is different booze to what we started with too - gone are the bottles of nice vodka, franjelico and kahlua, and they have been replaced by things like Sombrero Tequila (Caroline - do we have you to thank for this?), a bottle of white russian liqueur, and a no-name bottle of gin…

Anyway - the over-full nature of our drinks trolley aside - a good time was had by all (well most anyway - some people are never happy!). Lots of drinking, talking, laughing and partying went on. I always think that you know you have had a good party when you have to clean the floor twice before it gets back to normal - I am up to floor-cleaning round four and it still isn't quite back to normal so I think that means we had a damn fine party. Thanks to everyone that came, and to everyone that missed out… more fool you!!!

So a couple of awards to give out…
Best Dressed? Goes to Seth who wore a very fetching knitted jumper with an American flag on it - I was worried until Jeremy assured me it was a joke.
Drunkest? To be honest this was a hard one to call. I think Zoe may take it out though… apparently she went to town to go dancing… and then came straight back home again… or so she has been told.
My Favourite? Megan - for at least starting the clean-up before she left so that the house wasn't a total write off when we all got up on Sunday. The house was a total write off but thank you for trying.
Oddest Place A Drink Was Left? By the toilet… um…
Oddest Dregs Left at the Party? A cognac/passionfruit pre-mix drink.
Oddest Moment? When Megan and I first decided to get back on the rum train (TOOT TOOT) - why? Why? No seriously - why?
