Top 5...

To distract myself from panicking about freak fires resulting in my travel documents being destroyed/breaking my leg and not being able to fly/Wellington fog etc Megan and I got to talking about a number of top 5 lists... top 5 songs, movies etc... and obviously top 5 celebrity blokes... I struggled to come up with a top five to be honest but discussions included Mat Rogers, Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson... apparently I like funny looking guys... well until I meet my mountie anyway. Hope you are all having a nice day.

And so the freakout begins...

OK so all that stuff I have been saying about not getting nervous/not feeling real/totally ready to go etc etc? Drivel...

I woke up this morning in a panic cos I was having a dream where I had half an hour to get to the airport and I hadn't packed. Since I packed about six weeks ago (and despite Jeremy's predictions managed to stay packed) this is a ridiculous dream, however it did set my day of panic up just nicely. I got paid today which was nice and then I went to the bank and turned all my lovely New Zealand money into about 6 different currencies and put some on this card and some on that card etc etc. I have now totally convinced myself that I haven't got enough money, enough money in the right currencies, and if in fact I do I will probably lose some and then get back to the not enough money situation. For the record, logically I know this is not the case and that I have been saving hard and worked out my budget and basically am on top of this... but panic is not logical...

Anyway - to make myself calm down a bit I am going to go and re-read that wikipedia thing about mounties and remind myself why I am doing this. Hope you are all well!

Its not the drinking... its how we're drinking

Hi everyone

Well I am now officially unemployed... not really sure how I feel about it yet. Obviously being able to sleep in until 8.30 on a Monday morning is pretty excellent but the whole not getting paid thing is starting to become quite real!!!

I had my work send-off on Friday afternoon - a civilised afternoon tea and then "a couple" of drinks after work with the hard-core. I had far too much to drink (I know that will come as a shock to you all) but on the whole I don't think I was too embarrassing or obnoxious. Of course if you were there, and my memory is failing me and I was too embarrassing and/or obnoxious can you please do me a favour and not tell me? Thanks. Oh but if anyone knows how I got the really big bruise on my foot I would love to know. Unless it relates to the aforementioned embarrassing/obnoxious rule. Thanks.

Saturday I attempted to recapture some of my childhood by visiting Cobb n Co on my girls day out. Sadly Cobb n Co apparently no longer do blue lagoon drinks and the food was basically awful so don't rush to recapture your own childhood if you were considering it. I can recommend the Denny's Oreo Sundaes though... Megan is going to be doing a review of two of the establishments we visited so be sure to check out her site in the next few days to see what you think.

I went to see Over the Fence yesterday with Gillian - it was very cute and even though I am not always a big fan of the animated movie genre (or gender as the kid behind us said) I can fully recommend it. Probably best to see if you can find a small child or two to take along though - Gillian and I were a little conspicous with our childlessness!!!

Today dawned the first real day of unemployment and it has mainly consisted of bank visits thus far. It is quite sad to see how many foreign dollars your NZ dollars can buy but hey, what are you going to do??

Well - I had better get back to embracing my imminent poverty. I hope all is well in your worlds and you aren't too jealous of my unemployment!
