Film stars, pop divas and donuts

Hi all - hope things are well with you in your respective parts of the planet! Things here are fine - no major updates on the boring stuff in life so will tell you about some of the fun things I have been up too!

On Thursday night my hostel buddies and I went on a pub crawl in Little Italy. It was a fun night and good to meet some more of the people in my hostel. The last place they took us to on the pub crawl was a little dead so a few of us (and our beguilling international accents) went and talked our way into a film festival party. There were actually no celebrities there that we could see, and we certainly lowered the tone somewhat by actually smiling and having a good time (apparently the "in look" is to be sullen and bored) and headed back to the hostel and bed at a respectable 4am! Highlights of the night include the woman who told us to "get back girls, I need some room" when dancing and the Jerry Springer type show two ladies of the night put on for us on our way home from the club!

On Friday I freaked out... nuff said... suffice to say my very clever mother rang just before freak out reached fever pitch and calmed me down no end! Victoria and I then took ourselves off to the free Beyonce concert in Dundas Square, which was quite cool and absolutely packed with people. We had a brief visit to Tim Hortons (and his donuts) on the way home and got to witness police officers buying donuts from Mr Hortons... this in itself is a little funny but when it has happened all three times I have been in there it is actually hysterically funny!

On Saturday I had a pretty quiet day and Saturday night Victoria and I went to see The Last Kiss at the movies. It was quite cool - bit of a different take on the standard romantic comedy - and very pleasant way to pass a couple of hours. We checked out one of the million 'english pubs' afterwards too.

Yesterday I met up with Natalie and we headed over to Toronto Island. We were lucky and struck a beautiful day and we strolled around and checked out all the parks and beaches etc for hours. It is fantastic over there and I am hoping to head over again before the weather turns too cold. Weird part of the day? Military jets and helicopters flying overhead repeatedly... going to hope that was an exercise and that Canada was not being invaded but to be honest am a bit out of touch with the news so who knows!

Well, later this week the mountie search is moving to Ottawa for a few days so will have lots more to tell you then. Be good!
Cheers,
Clare
